Description
Deutsch: Die Doppelendfähren Kwale und Likoni der Kenya Ferry Services liegen vor dem Weitertransport nach Kenia am Terminal Dradenau in Hamburg-Waltershof. Die beiden Fähren sollen im Mombasa District auf dem Likoni-Kanal verkehren und die auf einer Insel gelegene Stadt Mombasa mit dem Festland verbinden. Sie wurden 2008 und 2009 auf der Schiffs- und Yachtwerft Dresden zum Preis von je 5,9 Mio. Euro gebaut. Die Fähren sind 75,0 m lang, 16,28 m breit und haben einen Tiefgang von 1,9 m. Die Seitenhöhe beträgt 3,0 m. Jede Fähre kann bis zu 60 PKW oder 1550 Personen befördern. Der Antrieb besteht aus zwei Caterpillar-Dieselmotoren, die mit einer Leistung von jeweils 287 KW über eine Welle einen Schottel-Ruderpropeller antreiben.
